Jeff and anybody who may be interested in the work of a light artist who works in what I think of as "real" conditions. Carpenter is a master of glass and light, having studied both and knowing their properties and capabilities to such an extent that he can manipulate them to create an array of sensations. From his firms website,
"We believe that the synthesis can be achieved in such a way that the individual’s awareness of a specific site, space or time can be heightened. As part of a shared human experience, this can create a sense of delight and wonder, and strengthen the connection to our surroundings."
The project seen on this page is the "Light Portal" and is a piece of the tunnel that dives below Boston.
"The Light Portal is an urban intervention that mediates between the experience of this new landscape for the motorist and pedestrian."
I think that we can abstractly apply the programatic problems of movement and timing that Carpenter solved to our interventions at the Hartsfield Airport.

Will, thanks for posting. Could you add some context to this.
